Ski S’Kool
Elementary School Program
This unique Ski S’Kool program involves multi-day ski lessons to Grade 3 students in the school yards of elementary schools in the Columbia Valley.
The Ski S’Kool program is delivered by the TCNSC volunteers, coaches and athletes that accompany the equipment to schools and provide on-site facilitation and qualified ‘train the trainer’ coaching. This includes grooming and track setting in the school yards beforehand, helping kids get fitted with boots and skis, and providing stimulating lessons in a fun environment.
Through funding provided by the Columbia Valley Community Foundation, the TCNSC has purchased 25 sets of skis, boots and poles to facilitate the program. Ski S’Kool Programs are a great way to introduce cross-country skiing to children in elementary schools. The program helps kids have fun in the winter environment while teaching them cross country ski skills. Our lessons are designed to develop dynamic balance, co-ordination, and fitness in a fun and safe environment.
