This is our opportunity to host racers from all...
The Nipika-Toby Creek Nordic Loppet is January 26th-27th, 2019. This is always a great 2 days race event and it is important that our club supports another successful race weekend.
This is our opportunity to host racers from all over and generate some funds for the Toby Creek Nordic Society.
To be successful we need volunteers for a number of positions. Volunteers need to be at Nipika for a 9am meeting on Saturday and Sunday. This meeting will go over expectations. No experience necessary for most positions!
To sign up for a post, please email Jed Cochrane at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All volunteers will get a free lunch, a BBQ ticket for after the race and be entered into great prize draws for volunteers only.
Colder temperatures over the last week have helped the ice on Lake Windermere to thicken. While the ice in some areas is safe, it is still unpredictable in others, and very unsafe at some spots as seen by the image (taken at Timber Ridge) below.
As of December 27th, here are the current ice depth measurements from various spots across the lake:
Indian Beach: 6 inches
Windermere Beach: 6 to 8 inches
Lower Baltic: 6 to 8 inches
Timber Ridge (be especially cautious in this area): 0 to 6 inches
For the Whiteway to be plowed and functioning, we need at least 12 inches of ice on the lake.

Skiing at Panorama Mountain Resort is very very much improved over last weekend. Fresh grooming last night and the skate and classic skiing are both very good to excellent.
Has anyone skied at Nipika Mountain Resort, let us know how it is. Trails are open.
Here's a photo from our Jackrabbits session last Saturday. Great to get all the kids out from age 3 to 15. 63 kids registered in the program!
