Unlimited Access to a World Class Trail
In 2014 the Lake Windermere Whiteway was named the world’s longest skating trail by Guinness World Records. At over 30km in length, this multi-use trail offers ice-skating as well as groomed skate and classic cross-country ski trails. We are gearing up for the upcoming winter Whiteway season! Get your Whiteway Seasons Pass early, and enjoy many benefits, including discounts at local shops.
December 21, 2018 Whiteway Update: We have been getting many questions about the status of the Lake Windermere Whiteway. Due to the warmer weather, the Whiteway is NOT yet open, and we do not recommend venturing onto the ice. We are hopeful that the colder overnight temperatures in the coming weeks will build up enough ice to allow us to open in the not-too-distant future. However, we need 12 inches of ice to get our big machine out there, and this can take some time, even with cooler temperatures. For the latest conditions check our Facebook page. You can also check out the webcam from Kinsmen Beach – the main gateway to the Lake Windermere Whiteway:
The Whiteway stays in world-class shape through each season thanks to maintenance performed by the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club. The club asks for a small donation fee of $5 per use which helps us to maintain the trails. An Annual Club Membership functions as your Whiteway Season Pass, and allows for unlimited use of both Lake Windermere and Lake Lillian trails.

The Whiteway was created in 2006 by the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club. The Whiteway was developed to connect the communities along Lake Windermere during the winter months. It offers 2 access points: one at Kinsmen beach in Invermere and one at Windermere Beach.
The Whiteway provides winter sports enthusiasts an incredible facility, adding to the already abundant list of winter activities available in the stunning Columbia Valley.
